New project Omori at CineMart

Zen

OMORI Tatsushi

After presenting his debute film The Whispering of the Gods at the Dejima Japanese Film Festival, OMORI Tatsushi will return to the Netherlands to promote his upcoming project at the CineMart of the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2007. The English title of the project is Taro the Dumbass and it is produced by Arato Film.

CineMart works as a highly efficient catalyst and matchmaker in the film-making process. During IFFR, CineMart invites a select group of co-producers, television buyers, sales agents, distributors and fund representatives to meet up with projects' representatives. Year-round, CineMart continues to actively support the selected film projects through alliances and partnerships with other international film festivals, training organizations and funding bodies.

Taro the Dumbass was selected, together with 45 other projects, from 520 entries. The CineMart 2007 selection includes new film projects from established independent film-makers like Kim Ki-Duk, Mahamat Saleh-Haroun, Stephan Elliot, Bruce Weber and Arnaud Desplechin as well as from promising talents like Alicia Scherson (Play, Chile), Fabienne Berthaud (Frankie, France) and Thomas Clay (The Great Ecstacy of Robert Carmichael, UK). Furthermore, CineMart 2007 presents first feature film projects from, among others, Jörgen Bergmark (Sweden), Pablo Agüero (Argentina) and Nicolas Provost (Belgium).

Dejima Japanese Film Festival moves to November 2006

Zen

Dejima is back! The second edition of the Dejima Japanese Film Festival will take place from 3 till 5 November of this year. Cinema Het Ketelhuis will once again be the location for the screening of a selection of new Japanese films, never before screened in the Netherlands. A number of guests from the Japanese filmindustry will be present and there will be ample opportunity for discussion and debate.

Due to a delay in the reconstruction of Het Ketelhuis, the date for the festival has been moved to early November. By that time the festival will have three screens at its disposal, and therefore a substantially larger amount of films will be programmed than during the first edition.
