There is a reason why It's Only Talk is the only feature at the 2nd Dejima Japanese Film Festival that has had a previous screening in The Netherlands: the film is a subtle masterpiece that simply deserves multiple viewings. Director HIROKI allows manic depressive Yuko ample leeway to evolve into a wonderful, lifelike character. Meanwhile, violent emotions are highlighted in an offhand way by the sparse use of music.
